遠くまで探検、さらなる冒険という意味。
等高線の地図はアメリカの「ジョン・ミューア・トレイル(John Muir Trail)」 の中心部であるミュア峠(Muir pass)を描きました。
この地図の中心には、「ミュア・ハット(Muir hut)」という建築物があります(写真二枚目)。シエラネバダの自然保護運動を進めたジョン・ミューアに敬意を表して作られました。建設をしたのは、自然を守り愛したシエラクラブの会員たちです。標高3643ｍの険しい荒野の中で、ひとつひとつ石を積み上げて作られたそう。今ではJMTの象徴として、訪れる人々に避難小屋として使われています。

地上で手つかずの自然が残る場所を探検し、楽しみ、保護する。
